I’ll never forget the day I took my four week old twin boys to the pediatrician. “Perry isn’t drinking as much as Zeke.” “Zeke is coughing a little, and Perry’s not coughing at all.” “Perry cries when we bathe him. Zeke seems to enjoy it.” I was worried.

Read MoreNear the end of 2019, I made the decision to sell my downtown studio and run my online business from home. As I created my workspace in what used to be our upstairs playroom, I never dreamed that in just a few months, millions of people would be joining me in the work-from-home journey. I’m thankful that I made the decision to move my office home before the decision was made for me. It gave me a couple of months to figure out what I need to craft a work environment that works for me. It was definitely an adjustment, but now I’ve figured out what I need to be productive and comfortable in my at-home office! And after months of trial and error, I’m ready to share my favorite work-from-home must haves!

Read MoreIn 2014, when I totally transformed my tired wedding rentals business into the floral design and wedding planning studio that got me named Top Wedding Planner in the South by Southern Living Magazine, I had no images that would attract the kind of clients I wanted to be working with. I’d done a lot of what I call “roundy-moundy” arrangements with five white Hydrangea and three sprigs of Salal. Not exactly the floral art I wanted to create. That’s why, when it came time to rebrand and create a new website and floral portfolio, I knew I needed some updated images to reflect my new direction. You’ve gotta share the work you want to create, right?
Read MoreMalorie from Abundantly Clear Podcast is the queen of unblocking mental barriers to help entrepreneurs experience growth… both in business and in their personal lives. During our conversation, Malorie and I talk about my business story, how to embrace your intuition, and why not making a five year plan has lead me to achieving some of my biggest dreams. I like to see life as a set of stepping stones on a path that leads to me becoming more and more of who I’m meant to be. When I look at the stones behind me, they’re clear and brightly lit. I can see how each stepping stone, each life event has lead me to the stone I’m currently on. But that stone, the stone that represents my present, is dimly lit. There are spots that are clear, but I’m still discovering and uncovering. It’s not abundantly clear.
Read MoreIt’d been about three months since I’d stepped into a bookstore when I popped into Barnes and Noble the other day with Stella, masks and all. And there it was, my memoir, Sleeping with a Stranger, on the bottom right of the bookshelf. (I wonder if I can convince Brian to change our last name to something that starts with an “A” so we can get that top shelf spot??) It was the first time since my book released that I’d had the chance to see it on a shelf. Turns out, releasing a book during a global pandemic tends to throw off plans like book tours, press features, and readings. I’d be lying if I said that this change of plans hasn’t been, at times, frustrating, infuriating, and discouraging. It has been all of those things and more.

Carrie is a floral designer who spent months taking my webinars and smaller classes until she dove in and bought The Power of Pinning. Carrie’s been where so many of us have been before… strapped for cash and struggling to find a sure-fire way to market our business when we don’t have extra money to spend on something that won’t work. That’s where the Power of Pinning comes in. Once Carrie heard about how Pinterest was working as a marketing tool for us over at Zimmerman, she knew it was the best money she could spend on her business.
