Meet our 2018 BBB Scholarship Winners

There was an overwhelming number of applicants.  So many that 42 states and 15 countries were represented.

It really was such a tough decision with so many wonderful, inspiring, heart-warming applications.  As I read through each submission, there were common themes throughout of what you were desiring to get out of the course:

Vizcaya Museum and Gardens Bridal Portraits

We love the opportunity to travel with our clients.  One of our brides wanted her bridal portraits to stand out from the normal environments that she was used to seeing with other brides.  After brainstorming with photographer, Heather Payne, we came to the conclusion of Vizcaya Museum and Gardens.  The mix of Spanish settings and European architecture paired with the peach and golden toned floral provided for an unforgettable afternoon in such a stunning space.

Dallas, Texas

When our Fourth of July plans fell through, I did a quick Google search for the best fireworks show in the USA. Less than 24 hours later, we were in Dallas, Texas.

It was the perfect summer road trip!

I hope you enjoy watching this video and traveling along with us to Dallas.

Southern Spring Wedding

This was a special wedding for us, not only because we fell in love with the bride, her family, and her fiancé, but we also were the first ones to produce a wedding in their brand new, gorgeous venue. The truth is, there aren’t just a ton of great venue options in Conway, AR, but my clients didn’t let that stop them. They took matters into their own hands and built a gorgeous space. (Legacy Acres is now available to rent!) I’ve never designed a wedding based off a stack of blue prints before, but I was up for the challenge. Thankfully, visualizing a space has always come easily to me. Bailey, the bride wanted an all white wedding, but she had already chosen blue bridesmaid dresses. While we kept the ceremony all white, I’m thankful she trusted me and allowed us to add a touch of color to the reception to really tie everything together and reflect the spring season. The southern, yet clean space was the perfect backdrop for a truly beautiful wedding.

How I stay calm under wedding day pressure

Four weeks ago, we produced our largest wedding of the year. The ceremony was set to start at 6pm. The bride would walk down the outdoor path to a beautiful floral covered arch that overlooked the Arkansas River Valley. My team and I had worked on this wedding for a year and the day was finally here and all of our hard work was about to pay off in one of the most gorgeous ceremonies I’d ever seen.

Except around 3:30pm, Danae (our lead coordinator) came up to me and said, “I need you to nail down a rain plan. I’ll be back in 30 minutes.

Want success? Put a Pin in it

Here's the thing about success: it doesn't happen overnight.

Success is a long term game.  We live in a world of instant gratification. Just think about it:  How quickly do you become frustrated when the building you are in doesn’t have wifi? When the item you ordered on Amazon isn’t available for two-day shipping? Or when you’re downloading something and it’s taking forever?

There is nothing instant about success, BUT success is possible if you’re willing to have deferred gratification rather than instant.

Music Video Feature

Last fall, we had the pleasure of working with Shay Mooney of country music duo Dan and Shay, and his bride, Hannah Billingsly, on creating their wedding floral!  Dan and Shay have produced a new song, "Speechless" paired with a music video compilation of their weddings.  We are thrilled to have our floral featured as part of this video.  Get a glimpse at their gorgeous wedding in this post!

Why saying no leads to success

I was working out with my trainer yesterday (I'm trying to take better care of myself and get some energy to keep up with my three kids and they say after a while I'll start to enjoy it, still waiting on that!) and she said to me, "My fiance isn't loving his job and he asked me how I was able to land my dream job and I told him I'm one of the lucky ones."

Mountain Elopement

I love when clients come to me with a few ideas, but want me to take over the overall vision.  That is exactly what happened with Madison and Grant's elopement.  Surprisingly, the groom's sister inquired with us to do the floral for her brother's wedding, and asked for us to bring together the entire vision.  I gladly accepted, especially because they had already booked an amazing photographer, too - Erin Wilson.

Our summer escape to Camp Wandawega

Our kids currently go to preschool year-round. Every July they are off for one week and every July we go somewhere fun. The weather in Arkansas is brutally hot during this time, so traveling someplace a little less hot is always a big incentive, too. This past year, we traveled to Wisconsin and stayed at a lovely little place called Camp Wandawega.

The #1 change I made that led to profit

I hear it all the time:  “No one will run my business like I do.”

In fact, I had that same exact fear a few years ago. I was wearing way too many hats in my business. I thought wearing all the hats meant I was in total control of everything. Turns out, it was the complete opposite. Because I was trying to do everything myself, I was actually destroying my business. My mindset was all wrong. When I really think back on this time, it wasn’t that I was going to lose control, it’s that I was fearful of releasing some control.
