Walking and Eating our Way Through Montreal with Three Littles

If this is your first Zimmerman Family travel blog, I need to tell you up-front: our trips mostly revolve around playgrounds and food.

If you have young kids, you know what I’m talking about. Meals and kid-friendly activities can make or break a trip, and we find it’s best to plan ahead!

We have our best trips when we plan for a morning and an afternoon playground trip. Once kids are worn out, they’re much more willing to do what Brian and I want to do!

It was no different when we went to visit Montreal.

We stayed in historic Montreal which meant that we were right in the thick of incredible culture and activities.

We walked all around Montreal, and I swear, by the end of the trip, we must have seen every playground the city had to offer.

Our favorite was The Old Port Playground, which had an incredible view of the big ferris wheel.

After the kids got some energy out there, Brian and I pushed them in the stroller while we got to walk around, window shop, and sight-see, which is our favorite!

For our afternoon activity, we went to the Science Center, where, I swear, the kids could have spent the whole day.

With three kids, meals are more about survival than documentation, so we didn’t get much footage of meal-times. That being said, food is one of my favorite reasons to travel, so here are some of our favorite food-related stops in Montreal!

  1. The Atwater Market

Perfect for when you don’t want to commit to a sit-down meal, and options to keep everyone happy!

  2. Beautys

This place made just about every “must-visit” list I could find, and for good reason! The breakfast is incredible, and since it dates back to 1942, it’s one of the older restaurants you can visit!

  3. Brit & Chips

The best fish and chips I ever had were in London, but these authentic Montreal fish and chips are a close second!

  4. Ligne Rouge Souvlaki

Brian and I survived off of European-style fast food sandwiches like these when we backpacked across Europe, and anytime I see some I have to order one in memory of our trip!

  5. Le Pain Dans Les Voiles

Some food I did actually document, the incredible chocolate chip cookies from Le Pain Dans Les Voiles. So so good!

Good food and good playgrounds makes for a great trip! I hope you love looking back on these adventures with me!
