I Went Dark Last Month

I went dark on my instagram feed two weeks ago. I had given myself one week to write a book, and I needed total focus to make that happen.

For that one week, I holed up in a hotel in downtown Little Rock and went to work! It was grueling; a total marathon. But I got my draft to the editor by the deadline, and it felt darn good getting everything down on paper (or virtual paper, at least).

In the week since I turned in my draft, I've felt a little funky, like I have a writing hangover.

It's not often that you get to sit down and process the timeline of your life as your own story comes together in front of you. I had been in go-mode for so long, that it isn't until now that I've really gotten to think through everything that my little family and I have been through these past few years.

It's heavy.

If there's anything that I've learned in the few months since I lived the end of my book and then I wrote it, it's that I need to slow down and be present to my own life. I need to celebrate and feel, and not just press on, but press in.

Some of you have been asking for more information about my book. If you want to know what it's about, check out episode two of Zimmerman Podcast. It drops tomorrow morning, and I'm sharing, for the first time, the current title of my memoir and a little bit of a peek into what it's all about. I'd love for you to check it out!

Until then, give me your best suggestions for the title to my memoir in the comments. I'd love to hear what you think!
