How to Focus on YOUR Goals

Have you ever thought any of these things:

“There are new wedding planners/floral designers popping up in my town everyday.”

“It seems to be the new trend in my area to become a wedding planner.”

“There are so many people in my area doing higher budget weddings and I don’t know what they have that I don’t have.”

“This person is doing styled shoots and posting everyday on social media, so maybe I should be doing that too.”

“I recommend this vendor all the time, and she did a huge wedding with my biggest competitor. Why didn’t she ask me?”

If there is just one piece of advice I could give to my mentoring clients, to my bloomer students, to YOU, and I could guarantee you would take it, it would be this:

Stop looking at what everyone else is doing and focus on YOUR work. When is the last time you asked yourself what YOU wanted rather than seeing a post of something someone else did and automatically think you should be doing that, too? The key to success isn't easy, but it is simple. Focus on YOUR goals. Ask yourself what do YOU want. Write it down. Write down achievable steps to get you closer to that goal, and work hard every single day on completing those steps until you've reached your goal!

Wondering where to start? I'll give you step one...

Step one: On social media, unfollow everyone in your local industry.

Unfollow the wedding planners, floral designers, photographers, bakers, rental companies, caterers, etc. Unfollow everyone. It doesn't do you any good to see what they are doing, who's working together, and feeling sorry for yourself because you aren’t involved.

Focus on YOUR work.

Your business isn't going to grow if you are distracted by a wedding this vendor had the opportunity to do and you didn't. The truth is there is an ABUNDANCE of work out there. There is an ABUNDANCE of opportunity. The problem is that really great work isn't going to come to you until you have the space to receive it. If you are filling that space focusing on all the weddings you didn’t get instead of being appreciative for the ones you DO have, you’ll never grow. Step one: unfollow.
