The Six Most Instagramable Spots in Marfa, Texas!
After we hiked Guadalupe Mountains National Park, we popped down to Marfa, Texas for a little visit.
Marfa is known as a hub for the arts, and it did not disappoint! Everything we saw in Marfa, from the permanent art installations to the thoughtfully designed landscape, was infused with art.
And it definitely prompted some conversations with the kids, who can sometimes be a little rowdy when free from the constraints of the truck or the airstream.
We got to talk about how art can come in many shapes and forms, and that the person who carefully designed and placed the mulch they just ran through cares as much about their art as the kids care about the pictures they carefully color every day. That really landed with all three kids and gave them new perspective as we explored all that Marfa has to offer.
Aside from good material for teaching lifelong lessons, Marfa also has some incredibly IG-worthy destinations. Here are some of my favorite Marfa stops that would also look great on the ‘gram.
Prada Marfa
14880 US-90, Valentine, TX 79854
Tiny Prada. It’s a permanent art-installation and could basically fit on a postage stamp.
Tiny Target
US-90, Alpine, TX 79830
Unfortunately Tiny Target is no longer with us, but it is still worth a mention!
El Cosmico
802 S Highland Ave, Marfa, TX 79843
El Cosmico is a nomadic hotel and campground that offers almost anything you could want in terms of accommodations, from vintage campers you can rent to tents, teepees, and yurts. It’s practical and beautiful.
Marfa Doorway
Highland St & E Lincoln St, Marfa, TX 79843
Like the Insta-worthy “I believe in Nashville” wall, this peachy doorway framed by “Marfa” block-letters is totally worth a selfie.
City of Marfa Sign
209 W El Paso St, Marfa, TX 79843
The Welcome to Marfa sign demands you to stop and snap! And don’t worry— no need to be embarrassed. The only thing watching you will be tumbleweed!
Marfa Mural

20 N Austin St, Marfa, TX 79843
Bonus:
This is located in Frama coffee shop!
Stop for coffee at Frama Coffee Shop and snag a selfie by this Marfa Mural!
Sure, it may be silly to plan what you want to see in a town based on how it’ll look on Instagram, but I think the point is that Marfa is a small town that packs a big punch. I love the idea that if we focus on being where we are, and if we can be grateful for what we have, we can make anything beautiful. We don’t need to find a reason to create beauty. We can do it just because we can.
