Las Vegas, Nevada Travel Guide

I know what you’re thinking… Las Vegas isn’t exactly known as THE premier kid-friendly destination, but we had the best time.

We’d been in Arizona for over a month, and we’d had our fill of wide open spaces and nature galore. To be honest, we were ready for some big city sights! To see more, check out our travel video of Las Vegas here and keep reading below all the details of what we did.

Here’s what you need to do if you’re in Las Vegas with kids— which I totally recommend.

Where to Stay:

If you’re a home is on wheels like us, stay at the Las Vegas KOA Journey at Sam's Town Journey. We love our KOAs because the hook-up process is so simple, and there are often perks like laundry, pools, and playgrounds.

On the other hand, if you want to stay in a hotel, I know I don’t have to tell you that there are thousands of options.

Where to Eat:

Blueberry Hill

We love love love breakfast here in the Zimmerman family. My kids were obsessed with Blueberry Hill. We literally ate here three times. There’s something for everyone!

Honey Salt

Once you’ve loaded up on pancakes and bacon, head to Honey Salt for a more local-focused, farm to table experience. This is a perfect option if you want to feel like you’re eating adult food, but you also need a family-friendly space (and menu!)

What to Do:

Hoover Dam

We went to see the Hoover Dam. In my opinion… it’s just a really big dam. But this was something more up Brian’s alley, and I was happy to oblige him! All the historical landmarks… truly, I could take it or leave it. But if you have a history buff in your family, it’s a must see! And I’m not gonna lie, it was pretty impressive.

Seven Magic Mountains

One man’s Hoover Dam is another man’s pile of stacked, painted rocks, right? I couldn’t care less about a huge wall of concrete, but this outdoor modern art installation is my dream!

The kids love art. If you’ve seen any of our travel videos, you know they’re always always coloring. So they loved this stop!

Red Rock Lanes

A few years ago, I read an article about the best bowling alleys in the USA. Of course I saved it. Red Rock Lanes was on the list, and I’d remembered it ever since.

We went and the kids had so much fun!

Bellagio Hotel Fountains

You know the ones— at the end of Oceans Eleven with the fireworks? We watched the fountains at night just like the movie, and it was magical.

Adventuredome at Circus Circus

The highlight of this stay for my kids had to be Adventuredome at Circus Circus. It’s basically an amusement park that’s inside a dome. Perfect for when it’s just too hot to be outside in the scorching sun!

Playground:

My kids loved playing at Green Valley Park (370 N Pecos Rd, Henderson, NV 89074).

It’s wild to think that even in places like Las Vegas, there are perfect playgrounds waiting to welcome your kids. Maybe our time would have been better spent just blogging our way through playgrounds in different cities, because I’m convinced that’s all my kids care about!

We got our city fix in Las Vegas, and if you live nearby with kids, I’d totally recommend a weekend trip with the family!
