Demand to be Heard
Zeke told me, "I want waffles. Cut up. With..."
"Syrup on them?" I asked, hurrying to finish Zeke's sentence.
"Hey hey hey heyyy! I didn't get to finish!" Zeke told me.
In a family of five, there are lots of times when Zeke doesn't get to finish his thought. He gets cut off by me, one of the other kids, or Brian. That's just life. But I love how Zeke stands up for himself. When it would be easy to just let himself be talked over, he demands to be heard.
Maybe there are times when you hesitate to share because you tell yourself no one needs to hear what you have to say. Maybe you've been sharing your story and it feels like no one is listening. Maybe it feels like there are voices that are louder and more important than yours that are crowding you out.
