Everything Changed When I Shifted My Focus

I remember when I first started my business, I had all these big dreams of my work being featured. My focus was more on the potential press than it was on the work. Looking back, it's so obvious why none of my early work was featured - it's not that the work wasn't good, it's just that my focus wasn't where it needed to be.

It was only when I shifted my energy and started focusing more on my clients and their dreams for their day that things began to happen. Press features are no longer a top priority for me. More often than not, I'll receive an email from a publication or a text from a friend letting me know of a feature they saw of one of my weddings.

I think it's great to have goals and big dreams. I think it's totally natural to want to be seen as someone who does good work, but we must not forget what is most important-- the people who have trusted us to make their wedding day unforgettable. It’s those TWO people we need to strive to impress, not thousands of strangers on the internet.

One day, all of your hard work, will be recognized. Don't rush it. Enjoy the journey of creating relationships, growing your business, and building something worthy of sharing. Trust your path. One day, more opportunities than you ever dreamed possible will become available to you. It really is about what you give. Give your best and you shall receive.

Nine months ago, I did the flowers for the wedding of country music star Shay Mooney and his bride Hannah Mooney. Their beautiful wedding has been featured in People, BridesThe KnotHaute BridesCountry Living, and even on the cover of Arkansas Bride. Dan + Shay also chose to feature it in their latest music video.

Never in my wildest dreams did I think my work would be featured in a music video, but it is, and I'd love for you to see.

Focus on what matters most. The rest will come. It really will.
