What I Kept from My Downtown Studio
If you read last week’s blog, then you know I did what once would have been unthinkable.
I sold my 6,000 sq. ft. downtown studio.
About a year ago, I decided I needed to move on from the downtown studio, so I spent the next few months selling all of the inventory that was filling the space.
And let me tell you, that’s a lot of stuff!
But there were a few things I’d collected for weddings over the years that I just wasn’t willing to part with yet.
I’m very picky about what I bring into my home. I’ve never even home shopped at Target or Home Goods!
I know.
But I love minimalism, and I only want pieces that truly bring me joy in my home!
So here are the beautiful pieces from the studio that I decided to keep.
Brass Candlesticks
There will never be a time when brass candlesticks aren’t in style. They can look traditional, modern, or eclectic. I love that I can add some brass candlesticks to my personal collection that have a sentimental connection, instead of having to buy new. Candles are one of my favorite ways to add ambiance to a space! And now I have these candlesticks that look great whether the candles are lit or not.
Modern Concrete Planter
This concrete planter is a perfect sleek, modern option. It’d look great with a nice philodendron plant in a bathroom or on a mantle. I love the neutral color palette (surprise, surprise!), and with three kids, the durability of concrete can’t be beat!
Rustic Resin Pot
I love this pot because it looks hand-crafted and it doesn’t have a drainage hole! It’d be perfect for storing your spatulas and serving spoons, and I love the darker terra cotta color.
Indoor Ceramic Pot
I love the clean simplicity of this pot. Sometimes, you want a planter to stick out, and sometimes, you want the plant to be the real hero. This minimalist pot is perfect for a clean, bright aesthetic.
Terra Cotta Planter
Evidently, I used a lot of plants in my designs, because here’s another planter I’m keeping from my studio collection! I love the earthiness of this terra cotta planter, and the scalloped edge makes it a little more special and feminine.
Brass Tray
I use one of these trays for my 5am routine, when I wake up to the day and practice passive prayer. I keep my incense, candle, palo santo, and matches on it, and I love how it holds these items together and turns them into art.
Dough Bowl
I had a few of these in my inventory and I sold all but one. There’s something about rustic bowls that just make the random items you throw around your house look more refined. Keys, hair ties, tiny lego pieces. It’s all art when it’s placed on a beautiful earthen bowl! Right now, ours sits on a shelf on our TV cabinet and holds our remotes and a couple of Zeke’s transformers.
Looking at the list, I guess I really like planters! But they really are good for everything… storage, plants, flower arrangements, indoor, outdoor… you get it!
I love that I can add to my home collection with pieces that I love. Every time I see the scalloped terra cotta pot, I’ll remember the weddings I used it for and all the beautiful memories that come with it.
While I may no longer have my downtown studio, the memories that studio held are staying with me!
