Family Favorite Niagara Falls Destinations

If you’re planning a trip to Niagara Falls, it’s cause you want to see the falls.

But if you’re making the trip, you’ve gotta do more than stare at water the whole weekend, especially if you have kids!

Plus I’m sharing some of my favorite kid-friendly Niagara Falls destinations.

  1. Falls-friendly Hotel

I mean, ya go to Niagara to see the falls, so it was important to stay somewhere that had a great view. The room we stayed in even came with massage reclining chairs so we could just sit in front of our huge window and watch the water.

Better yet, every night there was a firework show over the falls, which the kids loved!

  2. Convenient Transport

When you have kids, transportation is often the biggest question mark.

We rode the incline railway down to the falls. The kids thought it was the coolest thing, and it kept them cool and contained!

Once we arrived, of course we walked the waterfront, which was made easier because the kids had rested their legs on the ride.

  3. Clifton Hill

Clifton Hill was the perfect break for the kids. There’s food and go-cart racing and arcade games galore, and of course we rode the sky wheel while we were there.

  4. Best Fish and Chips Around

I had read somewhere that there was a town about 30 minutes away called Port Colborne that had the best fish and chips around. So you know we made the drive to try it out.

I love places like this— little hole in the wall restaurants that are no frills, just good food.

The town itself was so cute! We walked around, and the kids loved looking at the water and all the boats.

  5. Niagara on the Lake

The next day, we drove 3o minutes to another waterfront town called Niagara on the Lake. We rented bikes and rode around Paradise Grove Park

In my years of parenting, I’ve learned that if there’s a playground stop on the itinerary, kids will do whatever we adults want to do until it’s playground time. We found a great one, Simcoe Park, and simplified our parking situation by walking to a great lunch just a block away.

We spent the rest of the afternoon walking around Queen Street and stopped in a vacation staple: an old time candy shop!

When we got back to the hotel, we finished our last evening with a swim in the hotel pool (never underestimate a hotel pool!) and another amazing fireworks show from our bedroom.

There’s so much to do in Niagara besides the falls! It’s the perfect weekend family trip. Click here to watch our video travel journal.
